    Genus Description - Rosulate herbs. Leaf blades often with apex strongly displaced to one side. Inflorescences narrowly cylindrical in bud, the bracts distichous in bud, loosening at anthesis and spreading in comb-like fashion, the flowers subsessile, solitary between floral bracts. Flowers: corolla tube very long and narrow; outer staminode solitary; ovary with 1 fertile locule. Fruit 1-seeded.
