  • Description

Species Description - Plants rather slender to moderately robust, dark-green to yellow-brown. Secondary stems up to about 4 cm high, straight- or curved-ascending, simple or forked, julaceous, often stoloniform-tapered. Leaves erect or appressed when dry, wide-spreading when moist, not at all secund, 1-1.5 mm long, broadly oblong-ovate, rather abruptly short-acuminate, not or only obscurely plicate, slightly roughened at back of the apex because of irregularly bulging cell walls; margins plane or somewhat reflexed, serrulate at the extreme apex; upper cells rhomboidal, thick-walled. Perichaetial leaves ending below the capsule or sometimes reaching its base or somewhat beyond. Setae 2.5-8 mm long; capsules shortly exserted or rarely merely emergent, 1-1.5 mm long, ovoid; operculum obliquely rostrate; peristome teeth up to 130 µm long, variously perforate or divided, papillose; endostome rudimentary. Spores 22-37 µm and unicellular, rarely up to 50 µm and multicellular, ellipsoidal, faintly papillose.
