Description
Genus Description - Vines, the stem and petiole glabrous. Stipule-like flange not conspicuous. Leaves alternate; petiole 3-6.5 cm long; blade cordate, deeply lobed at base, glabrous except for tuft of pubescence on adaxial surface at junction of petiole with blade, 5.5-14 X 4-11.5 cm, with 7 or 8 primary veins arching upward from base, the blades smaller toward apex of stem. Known only from a single sterile collection (Prevost 1809).

Dioscorea cayennensis Lamarck
Although cultivated in the area of our flora, it apparently does not escape from cultivation and, therefore, is not included in the keys and descriptions. Igname jaune, igname blanche.
