Description
Species Description - Caespitose perennials with short, descending rhizome; culm central, erect, 0.7-1.8 m tall. Leaves basal or nearly so, green; sheath ca. 12-16 cm long; blade linear, 45-120 X 1.2- 3.5 cm, 3-veined, doubly plicate, the margins smooth. Inflorescences paniculate, branching 3 or 4 times, 10-22 X 8-15 cm, with 4-6 nodes, the lowest 2 or 3 nodes subtended by leaf-like bracts, with 1-3 branches from each node; spikes ellipsoid to obovoid, 3.5-6.5 X 1.9-2.5 mm, brown to reddish brown. Fruits ellipsoid to obovoid, 1.2-2.3 X 0.8-1.2 mm, contracted apically, tapered basally, irregularly reticulately wrinkled, brown to stramineous or olive.
