Description
Species Description - Caespitose perennials; culms 30—115 cm tall, the base often swollen. Leaves mostly 35-140 X 0.6-1.2 cm. Inflorescences of 6—10 rays; involucral bracts 6—9, the longest 35- 70 X 0.7-1.3 cm, ascending, the secondary bracts to 8 mm long; rays to 19 cm long, each terminating in 1-4 spikes; spikes roughly cylindrical, (10)14-35 X 12-26 mm; spikelets ca. 13-40, cylindrical, 4-12 X 0.4-0.8 mm; scales 5-9, the longest 2-3.3 X 1-1.5 mm, overlapping at base. Stamens 3. Achenes trigonous, narrowly ellipsoid, 1.6-1.8 X 0.3-0.5 mm.
Distribution and Ecology - Fr (Apr, Aug, Oct, Nov); weedy, in disturbed areas, especially near village.
