Description
Description - Leaf-blades coarsely and laxly spinose-serrate, the spines all ascending. Scape stout, usually short. Syncarp over 15 cm long at maturity, succulent. Floral bracts conspicuous, imbricate and covering the ovaries, coarsely serrate, colored at maturity; petals bearing scales.
