Description
Species Description - Plants up to about 15 mm high. Leaves imbricate to erect-spreading or slightly contorted when dry, keeled, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 1.3-2 mm long, exclusive of ± entire hair points as much as 1 mm long; margins recurved on 1 or both sides, usually with a single row of bistratose cells near the apex (rarely 2 rows), sometimes only in spots; costa with 2 guide cells at base; cells unistratose, 1-1.5:1, sometimes longer in upper leaves, 9-12 µm wide, thick-walled and sinuose, longer at midleaf and strongly sinuose; basal cells long, narrow, thinner-walled, not or ± sinuose. Autoicous. Perichaetial bracts lanceolate, up to 3 mm long, with hair points up to 1.4 mm long. Setae about 2 mm long, strongly curved; capsules ± exserted, 0.8-1 mm long, smooth or nearly so; annulus deciduous, of about 3 layers of cells; operculum convex to conic; peristome teeth narrow, irregularly bifid or perforate. Spores 9-12 µm, smooth or nearly so. Calyptrae mitrate.
