    Genus Description - Plants epiphytic or occasionally epilithic. Rhizomes slender, long-creeping, covered with scales and roots. Fronds monomorphic or slightly dimorphic; blade usually entire, often with scales; veins reticulate, with or without included veinlets. Sori round or elongate, inserted at junction of 2 or more veins; indusia absent; paraphyses peltate. The genus is considered by some authors to be a synonym of Polypodium.
