    Species Description - Trunks to 2-3 m X 5-7 cm. Fronds 5 or 6, bipinnatepinnatifid, 1-1.5 X 0.8 m, with apex pinnate-pinnatifid; petiole 50-60 cm long, with sparse spines 2—4 mm long, with brown, triangular scales; pinnae elliptic, the middle ones to 50 X 10 cm, the basal ones to 10 X 3 cm, clearly discolorous when dry, the rachis canaliculate, pubescent on concave surface; pinnules ca. 50 X 7 mm, the midrib pubescent adaxially, the ultimate segments rectangular, with simple veins. Sori 4 - 6 on each ultimate segment; indusia absent. Common, in lowland forest.
