Description
Species Description - Papillae large, 4-11 µm high, often columnar, simple to bi- or trifid, single or rarely as many as 3 centered over each bulging lumen. Spores sometimes homogeneous.

The high papillae give a glistening appearance under a dissecting microscope. The spores may vary from homogeneous to heterogeneous in different capsules on the same gametophyte.

On soil, rock, and decaying logs in montane regions at 1400-3200 m elev.; Chiapas, Distrito Federal, Durango, Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacan, Oaxaca.— Mexico to northern South America.
