Description
Species Description - Plants glossy when dry, yellowish to whitish-green, often tinged with brown, usually less than 1 cm high. Leaves erect, rigid, fragile, 10-30 mm long, linear-ligulate from a narrow oblong-obovate base about 1.5 mm long, obtuse to acute and entire or irregularly crenulate at the apex, in section semi-terete with margins acutely angled and basal laminae narrow (150-160 µm broad), with inner cells 3-4:1. Sporophytes unknown.

The very long, slender, erect leaves, usually broken, are highly distinctive.

Distribution
On soil at base of trees, 1170-1230 m alt.; Oaxaca and Puebla.—Mexico to Costa Rica; Jamaica, Guadeloupe, and Trinidad; British Guiana and Surinam.
