    Genus Description - Erect, climbing, or trailing shrubs or herbs. Leaves alternate, petiolate to sessile, the venation pinnate. Flowers shortly bibracteate, in terminal racemes or panicles; calyx 5-ribbed, these covered with stipitate glands, the lobes triangular; corolla salverform the tube exceeding the calyx, the lobes obovate, rounded, or truncate; stamens 5, the filaments free, included or slightly exserted, the anthers opening by 2 longitudinal slits; style 1, included or exserted, with 5 elongate stigmas. Fruit a 1-seeded, membranous, valvate capsule.

    Distribution and Ecology - A tropical genus of 12-20 species.
