Description
Genus Description - Trees or shrubs, glabrous or pubescent, usually with simple hairs. Leaves opposite or ternate, with translucent oil glands. small to medium, produced in axillary panicles; bracts and bracteoles deciduous; hypanthium not prolonged beyond the ovary, canescent; sepals 4; petals 4, white, spreading at anthesis, deciduous; stamens numerous, the filaments free, the anthers opening by longitudinal slits; ovary 2-locular, each locule with to 20 ovules, the style filiform, the stigma punctiform. Fruit a 1- or 2-seeded berry, crowned by the sepals.
