Description
Species Description - Subshrub or shrub to 1.5 m tall; stems with yellowish stellate pubescence. Leaf blades ovate-elliptic, 3-6 x 2-3 cm, discolorous, minutely stellate-pubescent above and beneath, the apex acute, the base truncate, the margins finely crenate-serrate; petioles 0.4-1.5 cm long. Rowers 1-3 per axil; pedicels slender, to 1 cm long. Calyx 4-5 mm long, unribbed, yellowish-pubescent; corolla 5 mm long, yellow; androecium included. Fruit oblate, 4-5 mm diam., stellate-pubescent; mericarps 8-10, fragile-walled.
Distribution and Ecology - Common in open, disturbed habitats such as clearings and roadsides. Coral Bay (A2788), L'Esperance (A2558), trail to Seiben (A2646). Also on St. Croix, St. Thomas, Guana Island (Tortola), and Virgin Gorda.
