Bryohumbertia P.-Varde & Ther. can be segregated from Campylopus on the basis of the smooth inner surfaces of peristome teeth, presence of an annulus, and a rostrate operculum as long as, or longer than the urn. Unfortunately, the genera can scarcely be distinguished on the basis of gametophytic characters. In the Mexican flora, only Campylopus filiformis can be referred to Bryohumbertia.
