Description
Genus Description - Trees. Leaves twice pinnate; pinnae opposite, the leaflets usually medium-sized, numerous, alternate; petioles and rachis without nectariferous glands; stipules wanting or early deciduous. Flowers bisexual, in narrow racemes; calyx bell-shaped, with 5 teeth at apex; corolla yellow, short-tubular or with 5 free petals; stamens 10, exserted, the filaments united at base, the anthers with a deciduous apical gland; ovary sessile, with several ovules, the style filiform, the stigma punctiform. Legume linear, straight, compressed, distended over seeds, dehiscent by twisting valves; seeds rounded, slightly compressed, bright red.
