    Genus Description - Dioecious shrubs or small trees, not producing milky latex. Leaves simple, pellucid-punctate, clustered on short, lateral, woolly shoots; stipules minute. Flowers clustered in leaf axils; calyx deeply parted; corolla lacking; nectary disk annular. Staminate flowers on short pedicels; calyx 4- to 5-lobed; stamens 8-15, the filaments united into a short stipe, the anthers short, ellipsoid; pistillode absent. Pistillate flowers on long pedicels; calyx 5-6-lobed; ovary 3-lobed, of 3 uniovular carpels, the styles free, laciniate. Fruit a 3-lobed capsule with 1 seed per locule.
