Description
Species Description - Stems 0.5-1.7 cm long. Leaves (1.7-) 1.8-2.1 (-3.1) mm long, lanceolate, acute; costa percurrent; margins dentate, especially on the vaginant laminae; border confluent at the leaf apex, (14-)16-20(-22) µm wide on the dorsal lamina, 2-3 cells thick; dorsal lamina usually narrowed toward the insertion and sometimes ending above it; vaginant laminae ± equal, ±1/2 the leaf length

This species is characterized primarily by the toothing of leaf margins, particularly on the vaginant laminae. The leaves are usually somewhat larger than those of F. crispus and have broader borders.

Distribution
On moist rocks and soil, generally along streams, at moderate elevations (2000-2600 m); Jalisco, Michoacan, Oaxaca.-Mexico; Costa Rica; Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
