    Species Description - Herbaceous twining vine to 10 m long, producing abundant milky sap; stems cylindrical, slender, glabrous or puberulent. Leaf blades 5-20 x 4-14 cm, chartaceous, ovate, or seldom 3-5- lobed, the apex acuminate, the base cordate, the margins ciliate; petioles slender, puberulent 4-20 cm long. Flowers in compound dichasia; peduncle smooth, shorter than the petioles, the pedicels smooth; bracts early deciduous. Calyx light green, 8-12 mm long, the sepals unequal, oblanceolate, glabrous, with apiculate apex; corolla funnel-shaped, pink, 5-6 cm long, the limb 4-5 cm diam., with 5 rounded lobes; stamens and pistil included. Capsule thinwalled, depressed-globose, brown, 8-10 mm diam. Seeds 4 or fewer, blackish brown, smooth, 3.5-4 mm long.

    Distribution and Ecology - Common in moist open areas. Cruz Bay Quarter along Road 104 by km 3.4 (A2650), Fish Bay (A2468). Also on St. Croix, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda; throughout tropical America, introduced into the Old World tropics.
