Description
Species Description - Understory trees, to 20 m tall, unbuttressed. Bark fissured, the inner bark white. Twigs 1.5 mm diam., puberulous. Leaves not deciduous?; petioles 5-8 mm long; blades usually elliptic or oblong, 9.3-12.5 x 3.4-4.7 cm, glabrous, with 11-13 pairs of lateral veins; base acute, obtuse, or rounded; apex acuminate; margins entire.

Discussion
Phenology. Never collected in flower or fruit. Comments. The fissured bark and gestalt of the leaves of this “species” suggest that it belongs to Lecythis. In the field, we have referred to it as the jarana with relatively small leaves and white inner bark.
