Description
Genus Description - Shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite or whorled, chartaceous, crenulate to serrate; stipules minute. Flowers bisexual, produced on axillary cymes; calyx of 4 connate sepals; corolla of 4 distinct, greenish, reflexed petals; stamens 4, shorter than the petals; nectary disk cup-shaped, 4-lobed; ovary of 2-5 locules, the stigma 4-lobed. Fruit a fleshy drupe, with exarillate seeds.
