Description
Genus Description - Erect herbs. Leaves opposite or whorled, petiolate; stipules minute, interpetiolar. Flowers in axillary or terminal, long-peduncled umbels; calyx with 5 deeply parted sepals; corolla of 5 early reflexed petals, united at base; corona of parts, each composed of hood, horn, and appendage; stamens united with the fleshy stigma head; ovary of 2 free carpels, united at the stigma head, each carpel with many ovules. Fruit of 2 follicles with numerous seeds with a long tuft of hairs at apex.
