    Genus Description - Shrubs or trees. Leaves alternate, palmately compound, with stout, long petioles and stipular appendage at axil; leaflets from petiole. Flowers pedicellate, unisexual or bisexual, regular, arranged in umbels along large, axillary panicles; calyx obconic or cup-shaped, sometimes with 5 apical teeth; petals valvate, sometimes connate forming a calyptra; nectary disk annular; stamens 5; styles 2-7, free. Fruit with fleshy exocarp, 5-10-ribbed, with persistent disk and styles at apex; seeds laterally compressed.
