    Species Description - Prostrate herb, to 35 cm long, many-branched from a taprooted base; branches fleshy, light green. Leaf blades 0.9 -1.9 x 0.3-1.2 cm, ovate, elliptic, or obovate, chartaceous, glabrous, the apex rounded and notched, the base tapering into a more or less elongate petiole, the margins entire. Flowers produced in congested, nearly globose axillary cymes; bracts and bracteoles minute, triangular, Tepals 1.5 mm long, oblong to spatulate with expanded basem greenish, involute, with hyaline margins; stamens 3-5, the anthers oblong, filaments glabrous; ovary ellipsoid, the style short, the stigmas 2, recurved, as long as the ovary. Fruit indehiscent, slightly flattened, ellipsoid. Seeds 1.2 mm long, flattened-ovate, reddish brown and shiny.
