Discussion
Nephrodium fendleri (D. C. Eaton) Hooker var. pau-cipinnatum Donnell-Smith, Bot. Gaz. (Crawfords-ville) 12: 134. 1887. Dryopteris paucipinnata (Donnell-Smith) Maxon, Contr. U.S. Natl. Herb. 13: 19. 1909. Lectotype (chosen by Maxon, op. cit.: 20). Guatemala. Alta Verapaz: Petet, Türckheim s.n. (Donnell-Smith 767) (US!; isolectotypes UC!, US!). This species is easily distinguished from other Goniopteris by the combination of a conform terminal pinna, submarginal sori, and persistent indusia.
