Aspidium gongylodes Schkuhr (as “goggilodus”), 24. Kl. Linn. Pfl.-Syst. 1: 193, t. 33c. 1809. Cyclosorus gongylodes (Schkuhr) Link, Hort. berol. 2:128. 1833. Thelypteris gongylodes (Schkuhr) Small, Ferns s.e. States 248. 1938. Type. British Guiana. Essequibo, received by Gartner (isotypes S, B). Nephrodium paludosum Liebmann, Mexic. bregn. 275 (seors. 133). 1849. Lectotype (chosen by A. R. Smith, 1971: 56). Mexico. Veracruz: Ca. San Antonio Huatusco, Liebmann [PI. Mex. 2658, FI. Mex. 494] (C!, photos UC!, frag. US!). Thelypteris interrupta is easily distinguished from other Oaxacan Cyclosorus by the presence of orangish or reddish glands on the lamina below, ovate costal scales, and long-creeping, blackish rhizome. It is the type of Cyclosorus, which is treated by Holttum as a small genus of about three species. This species and T. serrata are the only Thelypteris in southern Mexico that grow in swampy sites.
