Description
Species Description - Similar to S. disticha except: leaves light green, not silvered beneath; lateral leaves 1.8-2 mm long; strobili 2-2.5 mm wide, with monomorphic, green, symmetric sporophylls (with keels as in S. disticha); megaspores white, 290-350 µm diam. with reticulate ridges.

Lycopodium apodum Linnaeus, Sp. pl. 2: 1105. 1753. Type. “Habitat in Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania,” Kalm s.n. (LINN 1257.27). Specific epithet often spelled “apus"; see Morton (Amer. Fern J. 57: 104106. 1967). See discussion under S. disticha.
