Discussion
Type collection. B. A. Krukoff 7080, Amazonas: Municipality of Humayta, on plateau between Rio Livramento and Rio Ipixuna. 7-18 Nov. 1934 (holotype NY, isotype A).
The closest relative of P. pseudofasciculata is P. peruviana var. boliviensis. They have been collected in adjacent areas at approximately the same altitude. The short, sparse, appressed pubescence on the vegetative structures, and the dense strigose pubescence on the flowers distinguishes B. pseudofasciculata from the Bolivian variety of P. peruviana.
Two varieties of the species have been recognized because of the distribution, and the difference in inflorescence and flower size between the two taxa.
