Description
Species Description - Rhizome creeping, 7-10 mm diam.; rhizome scales clathrate with margin narrow, pale, medial portion light brown with thickened dark brown walls, ovate-acuminate, 4-5 mm long, 2-3 mm wide; fronds 36-90 cm long; stipe ¼-2/5 the frond length, stramineous to castaneous, glabrous; blade once-pinnate, broadly oblong, 16-50 cm wide, terminal pinna conform; pinnae 3-14 pairs, 1.23.2 cm wide, proximal ones with base cuneate, distal ones adnate, linear-oblong, acuminate, glabrous except for rare to scattered brown trichomidia (0.1-0.3 mm long); margin entire; veins netted (meniscioid), with 3-4 rows of areoles; sori round, in 2-3 rows; sporangia glabrous.

Type. Collector and locality not stated (S). Polypodium triseriale is distinct by its meniscioid venation and sori in 2-3 rows on each side of the midvein.

Epiphytic, widespread in wet forests across the state; Choapan, Cuicatlán, Ixtlán, Juchitán, Mixe, Pochutla, Putla, Tehuantepec, Teotitlán, Tuxtepec, Villa Alta; 150-1375 m. Mexico (Ver, Tab, Oax, Chis); Guat to CR; WI, Trin; Col to Bol & Braz.
