Description
Species Description - Woody plant; branchlets solid at internodes, castaneous, sparsely tawnystrigulose, the bark often aromatic; petioles 6-9 mm. long, canaliculate, sparsely tawny-strigulose; leaf-blades 3.5-8 cm. long, 1-4 cm. wide, subcoriaceous, obovate (rarely elliptic), the tips obtuse, acute, or subacuminate, the bases cuneate, the upper surface glabrous, shining, slightly bullate, the lower surface sparsely strigulose, glaucous, the costa impressed above, prominent beneath, the 6-8 pairs of primary nerves divergent at 50-70°, obscure above, prominulous beneath, the reticulation obscure on both surfaces. Inflorescences axillary, paniculate, exceeding the length of its subtending leaf; peduncles 4-13 cm. long, strigulose, the rachises 1-7 cm. long, the primary branches occasionally subtended by foliaceous bracts; pedicels 3 mm. long, strigulose; flowers 3 mm. long; outer perianth-segments 1.7 mm. long, 1.2 mm. wide, ovate, strigulose without, glabrous within; inner perianth-segments 2.2 mm. long, 1.7 mm. wide, ovate, strigulose without, sparsely pilose within; stamens about 2 mm. long, the anthers about 1 mm. long, the filaments about 1 mm. long, the filaments of series I and II sparsel) strigulose, the anthers broadly oblong-ovate, quadrilocular; filaments of series III strigulose, glands subsessile, adnate to the basal 1/2 of the filament, the anthers oblong, quadrilocular, laterally extrorse; staminodia of series IV sagittate, small, lacking terminal bristles; gynoecium glabrous, the ovary globose; style 1 mm. long, slender. In fructescence with few fruits; peduncle slender; pedicels slightly thickened; perianth-segments patent and persistent; fruit 8 mm., globose.
