Description
Species Description - Rhizome creeping, 1-1.5 mm diam.; rhizome scales dimorphic, along rhizome 1-1.5 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, black, margin generally broad, pale, denticulate, rarely comose, at base of stipe 1.5-2 mm long, lanceolate, generally concolorous with only dark center spot, denticulate; fronds monomorphic; stipe 1/10-1/3 the frond length, terete; blade simple, linear-elliptic, (8-) 10-30 cm long, 7-10(-20) mm broad, thin; veins evident, dark, prominent, dark at base near the costa; abaxial scales sparse, round, 0.5 mm diam., brown-centered, margin pale brown to whitish, fimbriate; sori oblong, soral scales peltate, 0.5-0.8 mm broad, center brown-black, margin pale brown, fimbriate.

Pleopeltis crassinervata is aptly named for its distinctive, conspicuous, dark veins near the costa in the proximal half of the blade.
