Description
Species Description - Rhizome somewhat flattened, 5-10 mm broad, strongly ridged by the long-adnate stipe bases, bearing rather few scattered scales, these ovate, long-acuminate, and of firm texture. Sterile fronds 40-90 cm long; stipes very short, light brownish, bearing a few appressed scales toward base; blades oblanceolate-oblong, 30-70 cm long, 8-22 cm broad above the middle; rhachis narrowly winged; pinnae 20-30 pairs, spreading, alternate, distant, linear-attenuate from a subequal, narrowly cuneate, short-stalked base, up to 11 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad; veins prominulous, especially on abaxial side; tissue herbaceous, semitranslucent. Fertile fronds smaller, the blades up to 40 cm long; pinnae distant, long-stalked, 4-5 mm broad.

Type. Wright 973, from Cuba (NY).
Syn. Olfersia kunzeana K. Presl, Tent, pterid. 235. 1836, nomen nudum, based on Poeppig s.n., in 1822, from Cuba, as cited by Underwood.

General Distribution. Florida and the Greater Antilles except Jamaica.
