    Species Description - Rhizome long-creeping, 0.5-1.4 mm diam., with heavy, straight, brown hairs and black clathrate scales, the scales linear-lanceolate, long-acuminate, 2-5 mm long; fronds 10-20 cm long, distant, often 1.5-3 cm apart; stipe lacking; blade simple, narrowly oblanceolate, apex long-acuminate, gradually tapered to frond base, fleshy; margin entire, slightly upturned; veins obscure, midvein visible below as a lighter streak, above by a slight ridge; sori sunken in grooves, 7-12 mm long, as 4-6 streaks in a row submedially between midvein and margin, more or less parallel to midvein but slightly oblique to it.

Gymnogramma salvinii (Hooker) Hooker, Sp. fil. 5: 157. 1864. Loxogramme salvinii (Hooker) Maxon, Contr. U.S. Natl. Herb. 13: 17. 1909. Type. Guatemala. Verapaz, Salvin s.n. (K!). This species was found mixed with Antrophyum ensiforme (949a), which it closely resembles in the blade shape and texture, the clathrate scales and oblique sori, but it is distinct in the long-creeping rhizome and straighter sori.

    Epiphytic or on logs in wet montane forest of Atlantic slope; Ixtlán, Villa Alta; 1150-1300 m (800-2100 m in Chiapas). Mexico (Jal, Ver, Oax, Chis); Guat to Pan.
