    Species Description - Similar to C. submarginalis except: frond smaller, 15-40(-50) cm long, 6-12(-15) cm wide; veins not reaching margin; rachis with 0.5-0.8 mm long bullate scales; costae abaxially with small (0.3-0.5 mm) tan, nonclathrate, eciliate, bullate scales; indusia 0.5-0.8 mm wide.

Type. Mexico. Tabasco: Teapa, Linden 1489 (B, photos BM, NY!; isotypes K, P, W, frag. BM). Ctenitis lanceolata (Baker) A. R. Smith of Chiapas and Guatemala also has non-ciliate pinna margins, small blades, and bullate scales but these bullate scales are clathrate, ca. 2 mm long on costae and 2-2.5 mm long on rachis. In addition the indusia are 1-1.5 mm wide.
