Description
Species Description - Similar to B. subpaleacea except: stipe atropurpureous, glabrous except for scales at base; lamina 5-16 cm long; lower surface with spare, tan, narrow scales (2 to 8 cells wide at base) and dense acicular hairs (0.3-1.0 mm long); sori covering terminal ¼-½ the vein length; spores reticulate.

Bommeria podophylla (Hooker) Fournier, Bull. Soc. Bot. France 27: 328. 1880. Type. Mexico. Between Vera Cruz and Orizaba, Müller 719 (K, frag. NY!). This species was collected on the walls of Monte Alban in 1966. It resembles Bommeria subpaleacea in having netted veins but is distinct in its narrow, hairlike blade scales and sori on only the terminal ¼-½ the vein length.

Terrestrial and epipetric in periodically moist woods; Centro; 1550-1850 m; Mexico (NL, Hgo, SLP, Mex, Ver, Pue, Oax).
