Description
Species Description - Rhizome long-creeping, to 10 mm diam.; rhizome scales ca. 6 mm long, 4 mm wide, brown, ovate, entire; fronds dimorphic, 50-140 cm long, subdistant; stipe 20-80 cm long, stramineous, sparsely scaly; sterile blade ovate to elliptic, widest below or about the middle, 25-60 cm long, 20-50 cm wide, pinnate, apex with conform terminal pinna, not proliferous; lower pinnae stalked, somewhat unequally elliptic, with cuneate base, (0-)2-6 pinna pairs; veins finely are-olate, with included veinlets; leaf tissue below with minute (0.1 mm long), appressed, yellowish hairs; fertile blade once-pinnate, 12-45 cm long, with 1-2 pairs of lateral pinnae and a slightly larger terminal pinna, entire; sori acrostichoid.

Discussion
Leptochilus pergamentaceus Maxon, J. Wash. Acad. Sci. 14: 144. 1924. Type. Jamaica. Green River Valley, Underwood 1426 (US! -2 sheets). The lack of axillary buds and pinnae with more or less symmetric bases distinguish this species from Bolbitis hemiotis.
