Description
Latin Diagnosis - Ab A. arcuato laminae facie abaxiali squamis atris capillaribus conspersa et rhizomatis squamis latis bruneis nigrescentibus diversa.
Species Description - Similar to A. arcuatum (q.v.) in frond size and blade shape (30-60 cm long, 19-44 cm wide; deltate), differing, though, in the presence of sparse to scattered, black, hairlike scales on the lower surface of the lamina and costae, and the wide (2.5-3 mm), dark brown to black rhizome scales.

Discussion
Type. Mexico. México: 5-6 mi NE of Amanolco on Rte 56, ca. 26 mi from jct. with Rte 15, 2700 m, 9 Aug 1960, Mickel 657 (NY!; isotype ISC!). Specimens have been seen from Costa Rica (Mickel 3251, NY, 3350 m) and the state of México (Mickel 656, ISC, & 657, ISC, NY, 2700 m).
