    Species Description - Rhizome erect; rhizome scales black, clathrate, occluded, 1-2 mm long, lanceolate, entire; fronds clumped; stipe 10-18 cm long, ½-2/3 the frond length, stramineous to green, not grooved but narrow wing turned up to look like channel ridges, with scattered, 0.1-0.3 mm, clavate hairs; blade 8-13 cm long, 7-12 cm wide, once-pinnate, ovate, with terminal conform pinna, non-proliferous; pinnae 3-6 pairs, ascending, short-petiolulate (02 mm) or sessile, shallowly simply serrate, base cuneate, exauriculate, acuminate to long-attenuate, texture firm; veins 2-forked, not reaching margin, hydathodes prominent; sori 7-12 pairs; indusia 7-12 mm long, 0.3-0.8 mm wide, whitish, entire.

    Type. Guatemala. Baja Verapaz: Panzal, Türckheim II 1677 (US!). Asplenium tuerckheimii differs from A. repandulum in its clumped fronds, more sori (7-12) with whitish indusia, veins not reaching the pinna margin, fewer pinnae (3-6), black rhizome scales with occluded lumina, and equilateral, cuneate pinna bases.
