Description
Species Description - Rhizome woody, 5-10 mm in diam., bearing numerous bright-brown, lance-attenuate, clathrate scales chiefly near the apex, intermingled with abundant golden-brown hairs. Fronds mostly 1-4 m long; stipes short, lustrous purple-brown, less than 1 m long. Blades deltate-oblong or -elongate, usually 2-pinnate-pinnatifid often 1 m broad or more; ultimate segments rounded-obtuse and relatively broad in sterile blades or pinnae, mostly elongate-deltate and acute if fertile.

Distribution
General Distribution. Pantropical, chiefly on mountains; also in south-temperate areas of South Africa, Tasmania, and New Zealand.
