Description
Species Description - Rhizomes 1.5–4 mm diam.; rhizome scales brownish, lanceolate to ovate-attenuate, 5–10 x 1.5–2.5 mm; stipes absent or very short in large fronds; blades pendent and flaccid, herbaceous-fleshy when living, papyraceous when dried, elliptic-oblong or slightly oblanceolate, mostly 10–30(–100) x 2–8(–12) cm, decurrent at the base, apices obtuse to acute to abruptly acuminate; midribs extending 3/4 the length of the blades; 2n=120 (Trin).

This rather rare species is easily distinguished from similarly shaped species of Polytaenium by the scattered, superficial sporangia. Sterile fronds can be discerned by the longer creeping rhizomes and large, papyraceous blades.
