    Species Description - Rhizome short, oblique or suberect, bearing several distichous frond subtended by papery stipules. Sterile fronds of firm texture, 30-60 cm long, the stipes shorter than the blades and 1-4- nodose, up to 4 mm thick near base, and sparsely scurfy with minute brown scales. Sterile blades narrowly to broadly elliptic-oblong, 22-35 cm long, 9-20 cm broad, the minutely scaly rhachis narrowly winged upwardly; pinnae 8-12 and a similar terminal one, oblique, oblong, strongly inequilateral at the cuneate to truncate base, tapering abruptly at the acuminate, sharply serrate apex; midvein minutely scurfy abaxially; veinlets mostly forked at or near base; leaf-tissue papery, subopaque, paler beneath. Fertile fronds shorter than or equalling the sterile ones, the stipe longer than the blade.
