Description
Variety Description - Stem almost unarmed or sparsely prickly. Leaves petioled; blades lanceolate to elliptic, 58 cm long, 1-3.5 cm wide, subacute to acute at the apex, acute to weakly cordate at the base; petioles 1/10 to 1/3 of the length of blade. Ocreae usually glabrous but rarely bearing a few bristlelike hairs along the veins, eciliate. Inflorescence branches relatively slender and loose, usually sparsely glandular-pubescent; bracts weakly to moderately ciliate, glabrous. Achenes weakly punctuate but shiny.
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. From northern India (Assam) through southern China to Ryukyu Islands, south to northeastern Australia through southeast Asia (Fig. 35).
