Other distinguishing characters between the two are mentioned in the key. Rhynchosia reticulata var kuntzei has not been as extensively collected as the typical variety although it is rather widely distributed in Central and South America. However, it does not occur in Mexico and the Caribbean, where only the typical variety is found.
