Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Amazonas, Venezuela. Vicinity of Sanariapo, Steyermark 58461 (holotype); Cerro Moriche, at alt. 300-800 m, 3Iaguire, Cowan d Wurdack 30873; Serrania Yutaje, Rio Manapiare, frequent at edges of savanna 1 km east of Base Camp, Maguire & Maguire 35042.

Discussion
The subtruncate or remotely repand-denticulate summit of the calyx is characteristic of this species. In the holotype the lower surface of the leaves is completely glabrous, but in the specimen of 3Iaguire, Cowan d Wurdack 30873 barbate hairs are present in some of the axils of the lateral nerves on the lower side of the leaf-blade.
