Description
Species Description - Related to P. leiocarpus from which it differs in having conspicuously pubescent ovaries and young pods; mature legume (limited material seen) narrow, 11.2 cm, usually tapering at tip, slightly pubescent.

Discussion
This is the traditional name for most cultivated Piptanthus. The restricted definition of P. nepalensis presented in the key and diagnosis above, is approximately that of Stapf (1930) who, however, substituted the name P. laburnifolius. I have seen no U.S. material of P. nepalensis as here defined.
