The Peruvian collections are both atypical, resembling A. intermedia var. intermeelia. The Killip d Smith 28393 collection has small sessile fruits 10 mm long and 7 mm in diameter. The Klug 852 collection has a sessile cluster of apparently staminate flowers with short ovate corolla-lobes only 2 mm long and the corolla-tube 4.5-5 mm long, while the leaves are short-petioled (3-5 mm long), only 6-7-nerved, and abundantly pubescent below.
