Discussion
Elaeagia utilis (Goudot) W e d d . Monogr. Cinch. 94. 1849. Condaminea utilis Goudot, Compt. Rend. 18: 260. 1844. The stipules of this species are persistent on the young leafy shoots, ovatesuborbicular, broadly rounded at apex, 1-2 cm long by 1-2 cm broad, and conspicuously recurved or revolute at the somewhat thickened tip. A fruiting specimen from Venezuela (Aristeguieta 5249) has glabrous capsules and branches of the inflorescence. It is tentatively referred to this species.
