    Species Description - Decumbent, glabrate perennial from a woody caudex with numerous, slightly puberulent stems to 3 dm. Leafstalk 2-4 cm; petiolar gland small, stipi-tate-discoid; leaflets 6-9 pairs, subpetioluled, oblong, 8-11 mm, 4-4.8 r, light beneath, the midrib eccentric. Stipules lanceolate, persistent, 4-7 mm. Pedicels axillary, solitary, 1.5-3 cm in flower, 2.5-3.5 cm in fruit; sepals 8-10 mm; corolla 2-2.8 cm diam, slightly irregular; stamens 10, irregular. Legume elastically dehiscent, oblong, flat, 2.5-4 cm long, 4 mm wide. Seeds few.

    Chamaecrista wrightii (Gray) Woot. & Standi. (1915) Ostensibly, Cassia wrightii is a local endemic of the Ruby-Nogales area and adjacent Sonora.
