Description
Species Description - Pubescent, evergreen tree to 20 m. Leaves bipinnate; leafstalk to 3 dm; petiole with or without a gland; rachis eglandular; pinnae 2-5 pairs; leaflets 8-15(-20) pairs, oblong-lanceolate, 2-4 (-5) cm, lighter below than above. Flowers in yellow heads 6-8 mm diam in terminal or axillary panicles; peduncles ca 1 cm. Legume oblong, laterally compressed, straight to slightly falcate, 6-10 cm long, 7-12 mm wide; margins straight or undulate; valves thinly coriaceous, strigosulous to glabrate, brown-black. Funiculus short, obliquely clavate.

Discussion
A. terminalis auct. Jones (1933) refers to the occurrence of this species in diverse localities and it is enumerated [as A. terminalis (Salisb.) Macbride] by Mathias & McClintock, 1963; Bailey & Bailey, 1941; and Hortus III. Riedel (1957) says “planted in good, deep soil, somewhat sheltered, with moderate water supply, this is one of the best tree Acacias for So. California.”
