    Latin Diagnosis - Folia ápice paulo acuminata supra primum marginem versus sparse pilis appressis conicis 0.1-0.2 mm longis et ubique pilis pinoideis 0.1 mm longis mox caducis obsita, subtus in venis venulisque pilis simplicibus erectis 0.2-0.4 mm longis modice setulosa.

    Type Collection: W. H. Camp E-4631 (holotype US 2404728; isotype NY; 8 additional isotypes to be distributed), collected on the eastern cordillera 1-8 km north of Sevilla de Oro, Prov. Azuay, Ecuador, elev. 2400-2700 m, 27 Jul.-12 Aug. 1945. “Tree 2 m. Leaves deep green, nitid above; pale below. Petals white; anthers yellow.” Paratypes (same locality data) : Camp E-4381. “Trees 8 m. Leaves deep green above, pale yellow-green below. Corolla white, the petals sharply reflexed. Filaments creamy white; anthers bright yellow, spreading.”; Camp E-4633. “Tree 6 m. Leaves subscabrid, deep yellow-green above, pale below. Corolla dull creamy-white, the petals reflexed. Filaments pale yellow; anthers bright yellow.”
